Ed Lovato is a native New Mexican and grew up in Rio Rancho. After high school, Ed joined the Marines and honorably served 13 years on active duty in the enlisted and officer ranks. As an enlisted Marine, Ed rose to the rank of staff sergeant before receiving his commission as a lieutenant. After leaving active duty, Ed was promoted to captain in the Marine Corps Reserve. His service in the Marines included tours of duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, and aboard the Navy warship U.S.S. Essex. Ed’s military occupational specialties were in communications and aviation command and control.
Ed earned his bachelor of business administration degree summa cum laude, with a concentration in corporate finance, from the University of New Mexico’s (UNM) Robert O. Anderson School of Management. He earned his juris doctor degree from the UNM School of Law and is licensed to practice in all state courts in New Mexico.
Ed is an active member in the community and serves on his HOA board and the board of the New Mexico Veterans Integration Center, a non-profit aimed at eliminating veteran homelessness. Ed is a member of the Rotary del Sol Club in Albuquerque and the Greater Rio Rancho Chamber of Commerce.
